Madeline Watson, MA, LCMHC, LCAS

Madeline is the founder and owner of New Story Haven, a psychotherapy practice and survivor-centered creative community in Asheville, North Carolina. Madeline is a licensed clinical mental health counselor (LCMHC) and licensed clinical addiction specialist (LCAS). She received her Masters in Counseling from Northwestern University and is currently a PhD student at Southwestern College, researching intersections of healing and transformative justice.

Madeline created New Story Haven to be a place where survivors are empowered to reclaim a sense of agency, voice, and purpose, and to move in the direction of safety and healing. Her lived experience gave her insight into the ways the system not only fails survivors, but often perpetuates the same abusive dynamics they are trying to escape. With that in mind, she envisioned New Story Haven as a relational space rooted in a paradigm of radical compassion that honors the agency and creative capacity of each individual seeking safety and healing. This approach does not see survivors as victims needing to be rescued, but as powerful and capable humans deserving of freedom and a beautiful, whole life.

In its mission to center and honor the unique needs of survivors, New Story Haven offers support through therapeutic services that facilitate empowerment, healing, and connection.
